Microgreens FAQ
New to microgreens, or just want to know how ordering from a local grower works? Here's everything in plain language.
What exactly are microgreens?
Microgreens are young, tender vegetable greens harvested just after they sprout — think tiny pea, sunflower, broccoli, and radish shoots. They pack big, bright flavor into a small leaf, and they're naturally rich in vitamins, folate, and minerals. They're a food, not a medical treatment — but they're a delicious, fresh way to add color, crunch, and character to almost any meal.
How do I order?
Just fill out the order form on our website. There's no account to create and no online checkout to fight with. Once you order, I'll reach out personally to confirm your greens and arrange payment and delivery.
How fresh are they, really?
As fresh as it gets. I grow to order on a 10-day cycle and cut your greens the morning they're delivered. Most store greens are days or weeks old by the time you get them — yours are hours old.
When and where do you deliver?
I deliver every Monday, free on orders $20 or more, anywhere in Alamosa, Colorado. Ordering ahead means the freshest possible greens, since I sow them fresh for your order.
How do I store microgreens once they arrive?
Keep them in their clamshell in the fridge. For the longest life, add a dry paper towel to absorb moisture and keep them cool and dry. Most varieties stay crisp and delicious for about a week — but they're so good, they rarely last that long.
How do I use them?
Toss a handful onto almost anything, right at the end so they stay crisp:
- Salads & bowls — a fresh base or a finishing handful on top
- Sandwiches & wraps — swap out limp lettuce for greens with real character
- Soups — stir in just before serving for color and crunch
- Smoothies & juices — blend in a boost you'll barely taste
What's the Weekly Variety Pack?
It's our most popular option: four clamshells delivered fresh every week for $27 — one each of Pea Shoots, Sunflower Shoots, Micro Broccoli, and Crunchy Mix. It's the easiest way to keep fresh greens on hand without thinking about it. You can also mix and match individual varieties at $8 per clamshell.
Are your microgreens grown with pesticides?
No. Everything is grown clean, indoors, by hand — with no pesticides.
Who grows them?
Me — Jasmine Price, a nurse and your local grower here in the San Luis Valley. SLV Microgreens is a small, one-person, direct-to-community farm. When you order, you're supporting a real neighbor, not a warehouse.
